Sanitation — the principles

What holds true for every tool, whatever the procedure says.

The seven

Cleaning removes what you can see. Disinfecting deals with what you can't. Separate steps, and the order matters.

Follow the approved product and contact-time instruction for the tool in front of you.

Clean and dirty are places, not just moments.

Used items leave before fresh items arrive.

Never improvise a sanitation procedure.

Remove compromised equipment from use, then escalate. In that order.

You are not expected to remember the procedure. You are expected to never invent one.
